Using state of the art communication tools, EMD
ensures the quality and future-proofness of its services. At the
same time this also opens up opportunities to supplement the
core areas of its activity with thought-through services and
thus bring further advantages to its members.
This includes EMD Net, the electronic backbone of
EMD’s everyday work and of the network of EMD, its members and
the manufacturers. Through EMD Net the voluntary group handles
its tenders on a standardised basis with optimum use of
resources. For some years now there have also been B2B auctions
through this network which has thus developed to become a
marketplace for large quantities of goods.
Further important elements of the network
include:
-
The Supplier Information System (SIS):
This is where all
information on the suppliers of EMD are centrally filed and
administrated. Alongside the characteristic data this also
includes all information regarding hitherto cooperation with
EMD.
-
The Private Label Information System (PLIS):
This
database bundles all information on the Eurolabels of EMD –
from the specifications and suppliers, to logos and layouts,
right up to documentation of quality assurance.
All buyers, assistants, directors and other
authorised personnel of all EMD members have online access to
both tools.
EMD also offers its members further services,
often as a complement to their own activities in the respective
country. This includes EMD exercising its negotiating strength
to achieve improved trading terms for national supply
contracts.
