Market Situation

EMD is THE guarantor of an independent groceries retail sector in Europe. More than 1'100 members (some of whom in turn represent independent retailers or wholesalers) are taking care of their customers on a nationwide basis in 22 European countries. With 50'000 grocery retail outlets and 40'000 convenience stores you are never far from an EMD member shop.

The type of company linked directly or indirectly with EMD ranges from the international grocery retail group to national and regional supermarket chains, right down to the independent trader in the “shop around the corner”.

The brands belonging to the EMD network are unique in Europe in terms of their diversity. Yet for all the diversity they have one thing in common – customer orientation.
