ESD Italia is represented in every province of the country and is market leader in two regions – Veneto and Basilicata. In four other regions – Apulia, Piedmont, Umbria und Molise – it occupies a leading market position.

Selex is a multi-brand and multi-channelled associated group of 23 companies, while Acqua & Sapone comprises companies specialising in the home and personal care sectors.

ESD Italia bundles first-class independent Italian trading companies and currently represents a trading network of other 3'800 outlets with a total sales area of over 2,1 million m². The turnover volume was increased in 2008 by 10,4% compared with the previous year and further growth is forecast for 2009. A characteristic feature of ESD Italia is the structure of its member companies, all of which are private family companies and deeply rooted in the respective region.

The focal point of the business strategy is the consumer, who profits from the advantages of increased performance due to group synergies within the framework of the ESD Italia central purchasing organisation. In addition to this, the brand name industry takes advantage of bundled central negotiations with ESD Italia as this gives it the best and most direct access to Italy’s most efficient sales channels.

The development program of ESD Italia also includes the further expansion of its market shares which will involve the creation of new jobs and require numerous investments.
