Since
differing market definitions apply in the various countries
the parameters and definitions used are set out below in order
to create a certain amount of standardisation:
The
following were taken into account: the entire grocery retail
trade including supermarkets, hypermarkets, superstores,
C&C stores, department stores, convenience stores,
discounters etc., including the product ranges in the food and
non-food areas typical of these types of distribution.
In
some cases it was necessary to use estimates since department
stores and hypermarkets are not assigned to the traditional
retail food trade in many areas of retailing.
