in a united Europe creates attractive and competitive conditions
for the medium-sized, European grocery retail trade.

for a competitive medium-sized consumer goods industry –
competent interlocutor for multinational manufacturers
As
an adequate and competent partner to the European food industry
and the retail trade suppliers, EMD assumes the coordination
function with regard to the services offered by the participating
independent retail companies. In doing this, EMD is mainly
looking after the interests of the medium-sized European retail
trade which without such a bundling of its interests would
have no real chance of survival within the framework of a
pan-European market. This is the only way to compensate for
the disadvantage with regard to the trading groups already
operating on a Europe-wide basis and in some cases even globally.

of market diversity on the side of the manufacturers
Through
its activities EMD is helping to maintain the widest possible
(local, regional and European) selection of goods and services
for the European consumer.
